GOOD FOOD FRIDAY

Okay, I’m a little late. My apologies.

DESSERT TIME!

Now, I hate baking. A lot.  But this is one of my all time favorite recipes and I have no problem at all with tackling this one. Completely decadent.

CHEESECAKE!!

Ingredients:

CRUST-
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
3Tbsp sugar
3Tbsp melted butter

Combine crumbs, sugar and butter. Press onto bottom of 9-inch springform pan. Bake at 325 for 10 minutes.

FILLING-
4 8-0z packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
3Tbsp flour
4 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1Tbsp vanilla

Combine cream cheese, sugar and flour, mixing at medium speed with electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Blend in sour cream and vanilla. Pour over crust.  Bake at 450 for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 250. Continue baking 1 hour. Loosen cake from rim of pan. Cool before removing rim of pan. Chill.

Enjoy! (I enjoy it with strawberries)

    1. If I can make it anyone can make it! LOL One thing I do that the recipe doesn’t call for is baking this in a water bath. I wrap bottom of the pan really well in foil then after the crust is baked and the filling is in I place it in a bigger baking pan with an inch or so water. I take it out of the water bath about 15 minutes before it’s done. It keeps it from splitting.

  1. Aw man….I just bought a boxed cheesecake mix because I’ve never made it from scratch before (and I didn’t have time to look it up online). My youngest son’s bday is Monday and he requested it.

I’m going to save your recipe though and try it next time!

  2. Sometimes we make store-made cheesecake when I’m not in the mood to make my own. They’re so expensive, I’d rather just make my own. I was scared to make one because I didn’t think there was any way I could do a good job at it. I was relieved when I found out I could.

    Happy Birthday to your son!!

  3. Ok, since this is my fave treat I don’t need another recipe, but I’ll take it! I used to feel like you regarding making my own and I’d only buy the ready-to-eat ones. Then I got brave and laugh at how simple cheesecakes are to make.

    1. I know, right? I couldn’t believe how easy it was. Okay, it has a lot of steps, but, except for the way mine seems to split, it tastes fantastic! Since I’ve added in the water bath, though, it doesn’t split anymore. But no one seemed to care about its looks-just the taste. 🙂
